In 2024, the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation identified that the demand for high-quality healthcare development programs far exceeded our philanthropic resources. The Foundation began discussing and developing Claude Moore Opportunities (CMO), which we launched as an independent, public 501(c)3, to bridge the gap in funding for quality healthcare education programs.
CMO helps fund evidence-based initiatives, including career and technical education, postsecondary credentialing, healthcare workforce training, and employer-aligned skills programs, that equip Virginians with the credentials and experience needed to secure living wage careers.

The J Hamilton Lambert Fund
Claude Moore Opportunities established the J Hamilton Lambert Fund to honor a leader whose public service and philanthropic vision transformed communities across Virginia. As Fairfax County Executive and later Executive Director of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Mr. Lambert expanded the Foundation’s endowment from $17 million to more than $250 million, strengthening its focus on education, workforce development, human services and health care.
